The Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) and the Political Institute of the People's Police of Vietnam co-hosted on July 13 a seminar themed “Understanding of new ethnic & religious issues, and tasks assigned the People’s police force”.
The event was co-chaired by Dr. Chairman of the GCRA Vũ Chiến Thắng and Assoc. Prof., Dr. Lieutenant General Director of the political institute Trần Vi Dân saw the presence of representatives from departments under the GCRA and the political institute.
The seminar covered exchanges and discussions of religious changes in the world and Vietnam, practical contributions of religions to social fields including politics, defense & security and external affairs, new religious phenomena, relations between religions, and ethnic and religious relations, as well as public security in the field of religion…
During the seminar, the GCRA updated information on the religious life and the state governance on religion in the country’s three ethnic minority areas of Northern, Central Highlands and Southwest regions.

Speaking at the seminar, Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng clarified five new religious trends of globalization, nationalization, secularization, diversification and personalization. The GCRA leader also recommended new approaches to the state governance on religion, including the mobilization of religious resources, promotion of fine values of religions, enhancement of dialogues with religious organizations, protection of rights to freedom of the belief and religion of Vietnamese people and foreigners living in the country, etc.
