Seminar held to gather comments on Vietnam history subject for religious schools

A seminar on the Vietnam history subject as part of religious schools’ training program has been hosted by the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) on April 27.

The event was chaired by Vice Chairman of the GCRA Bùi Thanh Hà, and attended by representatives from concerning ministries and agencies who are members of a editing council set up for guiding teaching program and contents of  subject of the Vietnamese history.

During the seminar, delegates focused their discussion on the outline of the history subject. Currently the draft outline was divided into three parts of medieval, postclassical and modern periods, with the aim to provide basic and general understanding of the history of Vietnam.  

The seminar participants also pointed the historical interaction of religion and the nation, and highlighted the need for ensuring historical accuracy and suiting various level of training of different religious training institutions.

Article 40 of the Law on Belief and Religion stipulates that the state administration on religious affairs central committee shall in coordination with the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Justice and concerning agencies works out the programs and contents of two subjects on the history and law of Vietnam.

For the implementation of Article 40 of the Law on Belief and Religion, the GCRA has on Match 30 established a council for guiding the program and contents of the Vietnam history subject for religious training institutes consisting of 12 members headed by Dr. Bùi Thanh Hà, Vice Chairman of the GCRA.
