Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Nguyễn Trọng Thừa and Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Vũ Chiến Thắng paid a visit to Long Xuyen Diocese’s Cathedral on November 11.
The Deputy Minister and the Chairman was welcomed by the Bishop of the diocese Jean Baptiste Bùi Tuần.
During the visiting reception, Deputy Minister Nguyễn Trọng Thừa praised contributions made by Bishop Jean Baptiste Bùi Tuần and Catholic dignitaries and followers to social charities and movements in the locality. The Deputy Minister also called on Catholics in the diocese to further contribute to the development of An Giang province in particular and the country in general.
Bishop Jean Baptiste Bùi Tuần took the chance to thank the State authorities for the due attention and support extended to Long Xuyen diocese over the past years. The bishop also pledged to encourage Catholic priests and adherents of the diocese to continue upholding fine traditions and further contributing to the development of the Vietnam Catholic Church and the country.
