Heads Thai Binh diocese, Catholic solidarity committee extend pre-Tet visits to government religious committee

Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Vũ Chiến Thắng hosted on January 16 a warm welcome for the visiting of Bishop Peter Nguyễn Văn Đệ of Thai Binh Diocese ahead of the Vietnam traditional New Year (Tet).  

Joining the visit included Chairman of Thai Binh provincial committee for religious affairs Nguyễn Quang Minh and priests of the Catholic diocese.

During the visit, Bishop Nguyễn Văn Đệ thanked the government religious committee for its due attention and favorable conditions extended to religious practices of Thai Binh Diocese over the past years, and wished a new year of happiness and success to all GCRA’s officials and staff.

In exchanges with the guests, Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng highlighted practical contributions to socio-economic achievements by Catholics in the country in general and in Thai Binh in particular through social charities and promotion of fine values of Catholicism.

The GCRA leader also asked the bishop, given his prestige and position to continue encouraging and guiding parishioners in the diocese to proactively join social programs and movements launched in the locality, while extending Lunar New Year greetings to all priestsm clergymen, clergywomen and lay Catholics in Thai Binh diocese.

Earlier on January 15, Priest Joseph Trần Xuân Mạnh, President of the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics (CSVC), visited and extended Tet greetings to the government religious committee.

In exchanges with the priest president’s visit, Vice Chairwoman of the GCRA Trần Thị Minh Nga expressed hope that Catholics would continue promoting fine traditions for strengthening unity and boosting socio-economic development in the country.
