Government religious committee requests religious organizations to strengthen preventive measures against coronavirus threats

The Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) has issued a dispatch sent to religious organizations asking for a strengthening of preventions in the face of the threat of coronavirus (nCoV).  

The Dispatch 48/TGCP-VP dated February 1 said in implementing the Prime Minister’s Directive 06/CT-TTg dated January 31 on intensifying preventive measures in the face of new complicated developments of the nCoV, the government religious committee asked religious organizations in Vietnam to enhance the communication work for raising religious followers’ awareness of the danger of the nCoV and preventive measures as announced by the Ministry of Health.

The dispatch requested religious organizations to promptly provide guidelines to religious places for strengthening the communication work and the coordination with health clinics in localities for preventing the spread of the virus.   

The religious places are also requested to implement the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Dispatch 391/ BVHTTDL-VHCS, dated January 1 /2020, regarding preventive measures against the virus threats in organizing cultural and worshipping festivals. In this dispatch, for the prevention of the spread of the new coronavirus (nCoV) which causes acute respiratory disease, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism has recommended postponing or cancelling traditional festivals which are yet to start, and for those which already began, their scale, duration and activities should be reduced.
