Government Religious Committee official receives Vietnam Council of Major Superiors of Religious

Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Nguyễn Tiến Trọng hosted on October 14 a warm reception for a visiting delegation from the Vietnam Council of Major Superiors of Religious led by Priest Joseph Nguyễn Văn Quang, President of the Council.

Joining the reception included Director of the GCRA’s Catholic Affairs Department Đinh Quang Tiến.
During the visit, Priest President Joseph Nguyễn Văn Quang shared with the host the activities of the Catholic Council of Major Superiors of Religious over the past years. He thanked the GCRA and local authorities for creating favorable conditions to activities of Catholic congregations in serving the Catholic Church and the society.
The Priest expressed hope that local authorities would continue supporting congregations so as they can together join hands in building the country and homeland, according to the spirit of Vietnamese bishops' 1980 Joint Letter "Living the gospel in the heart of the nation to serve the happiness of the compatriots”.

Speaking with the guests, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Tiến Trọng highlighted activities in the field of social charity, health, vocational training and education of the Catholic congregations and orders over the past years. He also called on the council to promote its fine traditions, and expressed hope that religious organizations in general and the Catholic Church of Vietnam in particular would continue to be an important resource for the development of the country.
The Vice Chairman also wished successes to the 7th general congress of the Vietnam Council of Major Superiors of Religious.
