Government religious committee official receives Vietnam Baptist church delegation


Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Nguyễn Tiến Trọng hosted on January 19 a reception for a visiting delegation of the Vietnam Baptist Church led by Pastor President Nguyễn Ân Điển, ahead of the Lunar New Year (Tet) 2024.

Joining the reception included Head of the GCRA’s Protestant Affairs Division Thiều Thị Hương.

During the reception, while extending warm greetings to the GCRA on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of Dragon 2024, Pastor Nguyễn Ân Điển shared with the host the religious life of the Vietnam Baptist church in 2023, including the establishment of the Baptist Theological Seminary.

Speaking with the guests, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Tiến Trọng affirmed that the approvement for the establishment of the Baptist theological seminary is the Party and state's due attention to the Vietnam Baptist church and acknowledgement of its role in guiding religious practices of religious followers in accordance with the state law.  

The GCRA official also stated that currently many organizations take advantages of belief and religion for carrying out activities that illegal and incompatible with Vietnam's cultural traditions, including the Church of God the Mother, so he expressed hope that the Vietnam Baptist church would continue guiding religious followers to stay alert and not to join these illegal organizations, strictly observe the state law and proactively engage in social charities and patriotic movements launched by local authorities.

On the occasion, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Tiến Trọng extended a traditional new year of happiness and success to Pastor Nguyễn Ân Điển and all members of the Vietnam Baptist church.
