Government religious committee official receives Christian and Caodai delegations

Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Nguyễn Tiến Trọng hosted on January 25 a reception for a visiting delegation of the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics led by Priest Joseph Trần Xuân Mạnh, Chairman of the Catholic Solidarity committee, ahead of the Lunar New Year (Tet) 2024.

During the reception, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Tiến Trọng extended congratulations to the success of the National congress of Catholics for national construction and defense for the 2023-2028 tenure.

The vice chairman spoke highly of practical contributions made by Catholic people for socio-economic development and took the chance to share about new development of the Vietnam – Vatican relation, including the agreement on operating regulations of the Resident Papal representative and office in Vietnam, and State President Võ Văn Thưởng’s invitation extended to Pope Francis for visiting Vietnam. He also affirmed that Party and State's consistent policy is to respect the freedom of religion and belief of the people.

While extending warm greetings of Tet 2024 to Priest Joseph Trần Xuân Mạnh and all Vietnamese Catholics, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Tiến Trọng expressed hope that the Catholic Solidarity Committee of Vietnam would continue promoting fine traditions and contributing more to socio-economic development of the country.

Speaking with the host, Priest President Joseph Trần Xuân Mạnh thanked GCRA for its attention and supports extended to religious affairs of the Catholic Solidarity committee over the past year, and extended a new year success and blessings to all leaders and members of the government religious committee.

On the same day, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Tiến Trọng received a delegation of Caodai churches led by Cardinal Chairman of the Minh Chon Caodai church Trần Đức Tăng, and hosted a reception for a visiting delegation of the Vietnam Adventist Church led by Pastor Head Trần Thanh Truyện, on the occasion of the Lunar Year of Dragon 2024.

During the visits, while extending warm New Year greetings to the GCRA, Cardinal Trần Đức Tăng and Pastor Trần Thanh Truyện shared with the host outstanding contributions made by the communities of the Caodai sects and the Vietnam Adventist church in social charities in the past year.
