Present at the congress included Pastor President of the Protestant Church Phạm Đình Nhẫn, members of the Management Council and local leaders of the Church.

Guests at the event also included Head of the GCRA’s Protestant Affairs Division Thiều Thị Hương, and representatives from the US Embassy to Vietnam,  and Ho Chi Minh municipal authorities.

The Vietnam United Gospel Outreach Church has been granted the operation registration certificate according to the Law on Belief and Religion taking effect on January 1, 2018. Over the past years, the Church has guided its congregations to practice the religion in accordance with the regulations of the Church and State laws.

Overview of the congress

Speaking at the congress, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Tiến Trọng spoke highly of practical contributions made by dignitaries and lay followers of the Protestant Church to the socio-economic development of the country. According to the official, over the past years, the Church has practically launched to social and charitable projects including presentation of wheelchairs to disabled people, rural clean water projects, environmental protection and climate change adaption... Especially, when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, the Church mobilized tens of thousands of tons of food, antiseptic solutions, medical protective equipments, etc for helping the disease prevention and control.

He affirmed that the Vietnamese State always pursues the consistent policy of respecting and ensuring the right to freedom of belief and religion, creating favorable conditions for religious followers to contribute to develop the country, as well as strictly prohibits acts of taking advantage of belief and religion to divide and sabotage the national great unity.

He expressed successes to the congress, including the election of the Management Council in the new term that consisting of prestigious members and continuing to develop the Church and observe the State laws in the coming time.
