Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Vũ Hoài Bắc hosted on December 29 a reception for a visiting delegation from Lao Buddhist Coalition.
Attending the event included Vice Chairwoman of the GCRA Trần Thị Minh Nga, Chief of the Office Nguyễn Văn Long, Director of the GCRA’s Buddhist Affairs Department Lê Minh Khánh, and Director of International Relation Department Nguyễn Phong Thịnh.
The Lao delegation was led by Most Venerable President of Lao Buddhist Coalition Maha Bounma Simmaphom, and joint by Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Vice President of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Central Executive Council and Senior Venerable Thích Đức Thiện, Vice President cum General Secretary of the VBS’s Executive Council.
Overview of the reception
During the reception, Most Venerable Maha Bounma Simmaphom thanked the GCRA for the warm welcome and expressed hope that the GCRA, with its role would continue paying attention to and creating favorable conditions for exchanges of monks and nuns between the two countries, and cooperation in Buddhist training between the VBS and Laos Buddhist Coalition, contributing to establish a close Buddhist relation between Laos and Vietnam as well as strengthen the friendship between the two countries.
Speaking with the guests, Chairman Vũ Hoài Bắc recalled the history of development and friendship between Vietnam and Laos and Buddhist similarities between the two countries.
He stated that the GCRA would consider and propose appropriate policies to the Government and the Ministry of Home Affairs in order practically assist Buddhist development in Laos, fostering close relations between the two Buddhist sanghas and the two countries.
