Government Religious Committee leader receives delegation of Vietnamese Buddhist Association in RoK

Vice Chairwoman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Trần Thị Minh Nga received on January 24 a visiting delegation of the Vietnamese Buddhist Association in Republic of Korea (RoK).

The delegation was led by Nun Thích nữ Giới Tánh, member of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Council, Chairwoman of the Vietnamese Buddhist Association in RoK, on the occasion of attending the 3rd annual conference of the VBS’s Executive Committee of the 2022-2027 term.

At the visiting reception, Nun Thích nữ Giới Tánh shared about the outstanding achievements in 2023 of the Vietnamese Buddhist Association in RoK and the Vietnamese Cultural Center in RoK, and took the chance to thank the GCRA and diplomatic agencies of Vietnam for due attention and practical assistance over the past years.

Speaking with the guests, Vice Chairwoman Trần Thị Minh Nga highlighted the role of the Vietnamese Buddhist Association in RoK and the Vietnamese Cultural Center in RoK in gathering and helping Vietnamese people in RoK in overcoming difficulties, meeting spiritual needs of Vietnamese overseas, preserving Vietnamese language and traditional cultural and religious practices, strengthening the cohesion amongst the Vietnamese community in RoK, and cultivating the Vietnam - Korea relationship through activities of cultural exchanges.

She affirmed that the GCRA would always accompany with and pay due attention to legitimate aspirations of Vietnamese overseas and promptly advise competent authorities for extending favorable conditions to overseas Vietnamese in general and the Vietnamese community in RoK in particular.

GCRA Vice Chairwoman hoped that Nun Thích nữ Giới Tánh would continue performing her role as a bridge of culture and Buddhism between the two countries, motivating and encouraging Vietnamese people to obey laws and contribute to the development of the host country, as well as make practical contributions for the development of the homeland.

On the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet), Vice Chairwoman Trần Thị Minh Nga extended best greetings and a happy new year to the Nun and delegation members, and the community of Buddhists and Vietnamese overseas in Korea.
