Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Vũ Hoài Bắc hosted on June 8 a reception for the visiting delegation of the Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) Church led by Counselor of the LDS Church in Asia region Johnson Kelly.

Joining the reception included Head of the Vietnam LDS Church’s Coordination Committee Hoàng Văn Tùng.
Speaking with the host, Counselor Johnson Kelly thanked the GCRA for creating favorable conditions extended to religious practices of the LDS Church, including the approval for young volunteers serve the Church’s activities in Vietnam. He also informed that the LDS Church currently has over 60,000 young volunteers aged 18 to 25 from all over the world.
Welcoming the LDS Church delegation, Chairman Vũ Hoài Bắc hailed charity programs sponsored by the LDS church in Vietnam for providing clean water, equipments to schools and support packages to disadvantaged people, etc.
The GCRA leader stated that the Party and State of Vietnam always respect and safeguard people’s right to freedom of belief and religion, create favorable conditions for religious organization to operate, and foreign religious organizations and individuals to practice the religion in Vietnam, as well as promote fine traditions of religions and religious resources for the sustainable development of the country.
Chairman Vũ Hoài Bắc has exchanges with Counselor Johnson Kelly
Chairman Vũ Hoài Bắc urged the LDS Church to further encourage its members to practice the religion according to the State laws of the host country, actively engage in social programs, education, health and environment protection, contributing to the socio-economic development of Vietnam.
On the occasion, Counselor Johnson Kelly extended an invitation to Chairman Vũ Hoài Bắc to attend the seminar of the Brigham Young University and visit the headquarters of LDS Church located in Utah, United State in October 2023.
Chairman Vũ Hoài Bắc took the chance to thank Counselor of the LDS Church in Asia region for the invitation and informed the guest that he would arrange to attend the seminar and visit the headquarters of LDS Church in October this year.
