Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Vũ Chiến Thắng paid a visit to Lang Son diocese on December 12, ahead Christmas 2018
During the visit, Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng extended merry Christmas celebrations to Bishop Joseph Châu Ngọc Tri, priests and Catholics in the diocese. The GCRA Chairman took the chance to share with the hosts results of the recent visit to the Vatican by Deputy Prime Minister Trương Hòa Bình where the two sides agreed to upgrade the Vatican Representative in Vietnam from the level of non-resident envoy to resident envoy, he said.
The Chairman also expressed hope that, under the guidance of Bishop Joseph Châu Ngọc Tri, Catholics in the diocese would continue practically contributing to socio-economic development in the province.

While appreciating the GCRA visit, Bishop Joseph Châu Ngọc Tri shared with the guests the fine relation between local authorities and Catholicism in the locality and the proactive participation in social programs and movements launched in the province.
