Government Religious Committee leader extends congratulations to second annual meeting of Bishopric conference

Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Vũ Hoài Bắc paid on September 18 a congratulatory visit to the second annual meeting 2023 of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Vietnam (CBCV) held in Ho Chi Minh city Archdiocese.
The GCRA official accompanied by Chairman of the Committee for Religious Affairs in Ho Chi Minh city Nguyễn Duy Tân was welcomed by Archbishop of Ho Chi Minh city cum President of the CBCV Joseph Nguyễn Năng, and bishops of the Standing Committee of the CBCV.

During the visiting reception, Chairman Vũ Hoài Bắc highlighted practical contributions made by the Catholic countrymen for socio-economic development of the country.
He had exchanges with the hosts on the Vietnam – Vatican relation, including
the working visit of President Võ Văn Thưởng to the Vatican on July 27, meetings with Pope Francis and Prime Minister of the Holy See Cardinal Pietro Parolin. Accordingly, the Vietnam and Vatican has agreed on the Regulation on the operation of the Holy See’s Resident Representative in Vietnam. He stated that the concerning competent authorities would continue to support the Holy See to soon complete the necessary procedures to open the Permanent Representative Office of the Holy See in Hanoi and create favorable conditions for activities of the Resident Representative in Vietnam in the coming time.
On behalf of the CBCV, President Archbishop Joseph Nguyễn Năng took the chance to thank the State authorities at all levels, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng Affairs, and the GCRA leadership for support extended to the CBCV’s annual meeting.
Chairman Vũ Hoài Bắc meets with Cardinal Phạm Minh Mẫn
On the occasion, Chairman Vũ Hoài Bắc visited and extended congratulations to Cardinal Jean-Baptiste Phạm Minh Mẫn, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of his Cardinal ordination (September 28, 2003 – September 28, 2023) and the 30th anniversary of his priestly ordination at Ho Chi Minh city Archdiocese Pastoral Central.
Chairman Vũ Hoài Bắc also conveyed floral bouquet sent by Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng to Cardinal Phạm Minh Mẫn.
The second annual meeting of the CBCV runs until September 22 in Ho Chi Minh city Archdiocese Cathedral.
