Government religious committee leader attends 6th conference of World Leaders and Traditional Religions

Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng led a delegation attending the 6th conference of the World Leaders and Traditional Religions held on October 10-11 in Kazakhstan.
Joining with the delegation included Most Venerable Vice President of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Executive Council Thích Bảo Nghiêm.
During the conference, Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng affirmed that religions in Vietnam coexist harmony and the State of Vietnam has a consistent policy for respecting and safeguarding the religious freedom to all people and creates favorable conditions for religions in international integration.
This is the first time Vietnamese delegation has attended the international event held every three years since 2003. The Vietnamese delegation actively participated in the program of the conference and met with Chinese and Korean delegations during the conference as well as visited several religious establishments, cultural facilities in Kazakhstan.
Given the main theme “Religious Leaders for A Safe World”, the 6th international conference focused on issues related to religious conflicts, conflicts between countries, extremism in religion, racism, etc. The conference also highlighted the need for harnessing mutual and respect understanding between cultures, civilizations and religions.
The conference adopted a joint declaration calling to reject all forms of religious manipulation in political conflicts and promote interreligious dialogue initiatives. The event also unanimously supported the establishment of a center for interreligious dialogue in Kazakhstan and issued a special stamp for the 15th anniversary of the conference of the World Leaders and Traditional Religions.
The 6th conference of the World Leaders and Traditional Religions saw the participation of more than 82 delegations from 46 countries including President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Thomas Greminger and religious leaders of Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Taoism and Buddhism, as well as representatives of the UN Alliance of Civilizations, UNESCO, the League of Arab States etc. The conference of the World Leaders and Traditional Religions is held every three years starting from 2003. In 15 years, the conference has discussed issues related to the inter-faith and inter-religious relations. |
