Government religious committee holds seminar on deviations in belief & religious practices

Vice Chairwoman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Trần Thị Minh Nga chaired on June 10 a seminar on deviant practices of belief and religion.
The event saw the presence of GCRA’s Vice Chairman Nguyễn Ánh Chức; Dr. Bùi Thanh Hà, Deputy Director of the Homeland Security Department under the Public Security Ministry; Assoc. Prof. Đỗ Lan Hiền, Director of Religion and Belief Institute under the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics; Assoc. Prof. Nguyễn Thanh Xuân, Senior Lecturer of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics; representatives of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism and Hanoi municipal Committee for Religious Affairs and; large numbers of religious scholars and state officials.

The seminar raised theoretical and practical approaches to deviations in belief and religious practices, as well as recommended solutions to lessen negative impacts of deviant practices of belief and religion in the society.
The seminar discussion also aimed to propose effective measures in the state governance on belief and religion, from understanding to communication work and administrative solutions.

The topic papers presented at the seminar included understanding of deviations in belief and religious practices in Vietnam, some current deviant practices of belief & religion and concerning issues, and understanding of current religious changes in Vietnam.
