Government Religious Committee holds conference on ten-year implementation of Party resolution on religious affairs and draft law on belief and religion

The Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) held a conference on ten years implementing Party’s Resolution 25 on religious affairs and the draft law on belief and religion on Jan 22.

Attending the conference were Minister of Home Affairs Nguyễn Thái Bình, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs cum Chairman of the GCRA Phạm Dũng, Vice Chairmen of the GCRA Bùi Thanh Hà and Dương Ngọc Tấn; representatives from ministries, central agencies and the Department of Home Affairs in 63 provinces. 

As reported at the conference, during ten years implementing the Resolution 25, Party Committees, state sectors and political organization have clearly grasped viewpoints and policies of the Party and State on religion and consistently implemented these policies from the central to locality. The contents of Resolution 25/NQ-TW, especially renovated viewpoints of the Party on belief and religion have been concretized into law documents such as the Ordinance on belief and religion, Decree 22 on guidance for implementation of several articles of the Ordinance on belief and religion.

The country now has about 24 million followers, nearly 83,000 dignitaries, 25,500 worshipping places. Religions have actively participated in charitable and social activities, health, education, joining hands with communities and state in helping the poor and the less fortunate...

The conference also discussed on key contents of the Party Resolution in the new period and commented on the draft law on belief and religion.

Speaking at the conference, Chairman of the GCRA Phạm Dũng asked the state sector on religious affairs for continued and consistent implementation of policies and laws of the Party and State on religion, further dissemination of the religious law to people.

On this occasion, the GCRA also presented a certificate of merit to organizations and individuals for outstanding achievements in religious affairs.
