Government Religious Committee disseminates religious policy & law to religious in Hai Phong

The Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) held on May 8-12 a program in Hai Phong City for disseminating policies and laws on belief and religion for key religious followers and representatives of belief-worshipping establishments in the city.

The event’s opening ceremony saw the presence of Vice Chairman of the GCRA Nguyễn Tiến Trọng, Deputy Director of Hai Phong municipal Home Affairs Department Đào Duy Phương, Deputy Head of the GCRA’s Inspection and Legislation Division Nguyễn Thị Định, Ven. Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Committee in Hai Phong Thích Quảng Tùng, and Priest Vicar of Hai Phong Diocese Peter Nguyễn Văn Nguyên.
The dissemination program covered presentations on belief and religion in Vietnam, key contents of the Party’s viewpoints and State’s policies on belief and religion, Law on Belief and Religion 2016 and its guiding Decree 162, administrative procedures in the field of belief and religion, difficulties in the implementation of the law on belief and religion in Hai Phong, and explanations of practical issues the implementation of the law.

As reported by the municipal home affairs department, Hai Phong city currently has 59 organizations of Buddhism, Catholicism, Caodaism and Protestantism, with 739 religious worshipping places, and over 410,000 adherents.
