Government religious committee disseminates new law on information access

The Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) held on November 6 a meeting for disseminating the new Law on Access to Information 2016 to officials and employees of the committee.

The meeting was chaired by Vice Chairman of GCRA Bùi Thanh Hà. In his opening speech, he emphasized that access to information is one of civil rights as recognized in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights in 1966 and the Vietnamese Constitution in 2013.

During the event, Head of the Division of State Apparatus Legislation under the Department of Criminal and Administrative Legislation of the Ministry of Justice Nguyễn Quỳnh Liên delivered basic contents of the new law on information access. She also highlighted benefits of the new law on information access for achieving publicity and transparency in the administrative system.

The new law on information access has 5 chapters with 37 articles and came into effect from July 1, 2018.
