Government Religions Committee holds workshop on draft of amended civil code

The Government Committee for Religious Affairs held a workshop on giving comments on the draft of the amended civil code on March 16, 2015.

The event was chaired by Vice Chairman of the GCRA Bùi Thanh Hà and attended by representatives of departments and divisions of the GCRA.

The Draft Civil Code has a total of 25 chapters and 712 articles arranged in six parts including general provisions, ownership and other real rights, obligations and contracts, inheritance, law applicable to civil relation involving foreign elements, and implementation provisions.

During the workshop, GCRA delegates focused their discussion on ten major issues, including responsibilities of competent agencies for protection of civil rights, personal rights, subjects of civil legal relations, legal consequences of civil transaction incompliant with prescribed forms, protect of bona fide third parties when civil transactions are declared to be invalid, forms of ownership, time of establishment of ownership rights and other real rights, modification of contracts upon change in circumstances, interest rates in loan agreements, statute of limitations.
