Government Committee for Religious Affairs receives an US Congressional delegation

On April 15, 2014 at the headquarters of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA), Mr. Bùi Thanh Hà, Vice – Chairman of the GCRA received with the US Congressional delegation led by Mrs. Lisa Williams. Attending the reception were also leaders and officials from the Departments of International Cooperation and Protestant Affairs and the Office of the Committee.

At the reception Mrs. Lisa Williams thanked the GCRA for its warm welcome. She also said his visit aims to learn some issues such as democracy, human rights that interest US Congressman Eni Faleomavaega.

On behalf of leaders of the GCRA, Mr. Bùi Thanh Hà thanked the attentions of Congressman Eni Faleomavaega to Vietnam over the past years. He also exchanged with the delegation about the religious situation as well as the guidelines and policies of the Party and State of Vietnam on belief and religion over the past time. He said that Vietnam is a multi–religious country with many religious followers. Currently, there are 10 Protestant organizations having been recognized by the State of Vietnam, other Protestant organizations are called churches or house – churches with the number ranging from a few hundreds to thousands of followers and have conducted regular religious practices in accordance with the law. Vietnam always creates favorable conditions for religious organizations to be recognized by the State.
