Government Committee for Religious Affairs leader welcomes European Union (EU) delegation

On February 19, 2014, at the headquarters of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, Mr. Nguyễn Thanh Xuân, Vice Chairman of the Committee, had a working session with Mr. Juan Jose Amalgro, a representative from the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Vietnam.

Attending the meeting were also Mr. Nguyen Duc Vinh, Head of the Department for International Cooperation; Mr. Cat Ngoc Trinh, Deputy Head of the Committee Office; and officials from the  Department for International Cooperation under the Committee.

At the reception, Mr. Juan Jose Amalgro thanked the Government Committee for Religious Affairs for its warm welcome. He exchanged views with the hosts on what the two sides will together carry out in the time to come.

On behalf of the Committee’s leaders, Mr. Xuân welcomed the delegation and discussed with the guests on the EU Delegation’s coordination with and support for the Government Committee for Religious Affairs to organize international seminars on religion, compile and publish the book on the religious life in Vietnam, hold training courses on religion and religious policy for local staff and send delegations to study the religious life in some European countries as well as their experience in this field. The two sides agreed on some issues relating to the organization of international seminars on religion as well as the opening of training courses for local staff in the coming time.

Mr. Juan Jose Amalgro thanked Mr. Nguyễn Thanh Xuân for his exchange of information. He also expressed hope for more cooperation opportunities between the two sides in the future.
