At the meeting reception, Mr. Bùi Thanh Hà highlighted a fine comprehensive cooperation existing between Vietnam and USA in many aspects, including the field of belief and religion. He also shared with the guests that the Government of Vietnam always implements consistent policies for respect and guarantee of the right to freedom of belief and religion. Thanks to correct policies of the Party, State and Government of Vietnam, there have been many positive changes in Vietnam’s religious life, religions in Vietnam have co-existed in harmony, and religious followers have actively joined in the construction and defense of the country. The two sides also exchanged on results of the implementing Directive 01/CT-TTg on some tasks regarding Protestantism, religious training, results of registration of religious meeting groups, religion-related land issues…

Mr. Bùi Thanh Hà highly appreciated open exchanges on differences between Vietnam and the United States regarding religious issues with the aim to boost bilateral relations as well as enhance the spiritual and religious life of people.

Speaking at the meeting reception, Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor Tom Malinowski stressed its importance to relation with Vietnam and spoke highly of legal provisions on belief and religion in Vietnam as well as positive changes of belief and religion in Vietnam over the years. He also expressed his hope that the two sides will work together to strengthen the existing Vietnam -US comprehensive Partnership.
