Government Committee for Religious Affairs holds meeting to review religious affairs in Northern provinces in first half of 2013

On July 5, 2013, the Government Committee for Religious Affairs held a meeting at Hoang Hiep Hotel, Hung Yen city of Hung Yen province to review religious affairs in northern provinces in the first six months of 2013.

The meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Dương Ngọc Tấn, Vice - Chairman of Government Committee for Religious Affairs and Mr. Nguyễn Văn Thông, Chairman of the Hung Yen People’s Committee. Attending the meeting were leaders of the Committee’s Departments, the provincial Department of Home Affairs and the Boards for Religious Affairs of 26 northern provinces and cities.

The meeting aimed to assess the efficiency of State management on religion and set major tasks for the second half of the year. At the event, delegates heard a report delivered by the Government Committee for Religious Affairs on religious situation and results of State management on religion in the country in general and the northern region in particular as well as the 8-year implementation of the Ordinance on Belief and Religion. Participants made recommendations to the Committee regarding religious affairs that need to be cared in the region and put forth measures to handle arising religious issues such as religion-related land and building of places of worship.
 
 
 
Concluding the meeting, Mr. Dương Ngọc Tấn acknowledged the localities’ recommendations and asked the provincial Department of Home Affairs and the Boards of Religious Affairs in provinces and cities to focus on fulfilling the key tasks set for the remaining months of the year.
