Government Committee for Religious Affairs holds meeting to exchange religious affairs experience with Laos

On January 6, 2014, in the central city of Da Nang, the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) held a meeting to exchange religious affairs experience with the Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction (LFNC).

Attending the event were Mr. Phạm Dũng, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs cum GCRA Chairman, Mr. Nguyễn Thanh Xuân, Vice Chairman of the GCRA, Mr. Phùng Tấn Viết, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, leaders of the GCRA’s International Cooperation Department and School for Religious Affairs Training, and 30 delegates from Lao provinces and cities.

In his opening remark, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phạm Dũng affirmed the Vietnam-Laos traditional special friendship, saying that cooperation between the two countries’ departments and agencies, especially in the field of religion, has been effectively implemented over the past time, contributing to maintaining political stability and promoting the socio-economic and cultural development of each nation.

Approved by the Government of Vietnam, in the framework of religious affairs cooperation between the Government Committee for Religious Affairs and the LFNC Central Committee, this meeting focused discussions on some major contents such as: the views of Marxism and Leninism on religion; the religious situation in the globalization trend in Vietnam and in the world; brief of some religions in the world; the viewpoints, guidelines and policies of the Vietnamese Party and State on religion; some religions in both countries. The two sides exchanged their experience in the State management for religious activities in their countries.

In addition, the delegates also study-toured some belief and religious establishments in Da Nang, Quang Nam and Thua Thien Hue.
