GCRA organizes activities responding to Vietnam Seas and Islands Week 2017

The annual Vietnam Sea and Islands Week will take place in the southernmost province of Ca Mau in June 1-8, in response to World Oceans Day (June 8).

The Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) has approved a plan of activities responding to the Vietnam Seas and Islands Week 2017.

Accordingly, a conference for the GCRA’s staffers will be held with the themes “border security sovereignty” “frontier - island” “for the sea of the Homeland”. News and articles related to the Party’s guidelines and state’s laws on the sovereignty of seas and islands will be also published in the religious affairs magazine and the GCRA’s websites.

In particular, the responding activities will include the propagation of the role, position and the importance of sea, islands and oceans for the cause of national construction and defense, the Vietnam Sea Strategy by 2020, the Party and State guidelines and policies on seas and islands including the law of the sea of Vietnam, United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 (UNCLOS), the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (DOC), ASEAN's Six-Point Principles on the South China Sea.
