A delegation of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) led by Vice Chairwoman Trần Thị Minh Nga paid a visit on April 6 to Candaransi pagoda located in Ho Chi Minh city’s District 3, ahead of Chol Chnam Thmay festival of Khmer festival.
The GCRA Vice Chairwoman accompanied by Director of the GCRA’s Buddhism Affairs Department Nguyễn Phúc Nguyên and Director of the GCRA’s Southern Religious Affairs Department Trà Quang Thanh was welcomed by Most Venerable Danh Lung, Member of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Central Executive Council cum Deputy Chief of the VBS’s Southern Central Office in Ho Chi Minh City and Abbot of Candaransi pagoda.
During the visit, the GCRA Vice Chairwoman extended greetings and warm celebrations of Chol Chnam Thmay to Most Venerable Danh Lung, Theravada Buddhist monks and Khmer people.
Vice Chairwoman Trần Thị Minh Nga also expressed hope that Most Venerable Danh Lung would guide Khmer community in Ho Chi Minh city to celebrate the traditional festival with a strict implementation of measures for the Covid-19 epidemic prevention.

On the same day, Vice Chairwoman Trần Thị Minh Nga visited and had exchanged with Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn, President of the VBS’s Central Executive Council at Minh Dao pagoda located in the city’s District 3.

During the visit, the GCRA’s Vice Chairwoman had exchanges with the Buddhist leader on the 2nd consultation work of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee for candidates for the 15th National Assembly and the People's Councils at all levels for 2021-2026 tenure, and asked Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn and other VBS’s dignitaries and deacons to promote their prestigious role in encouraging lay Buddhist to uphold civic responsibilities in the upcoming elections.
Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn shared about several key Buddhist affairs in 2021, especially the VBS’s conferences on Buddhist affairs in Northern and Southern regions in April and the 40th founding anniversary of the VBS.
