A delegation led by Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Vũ Chiến Thắng had on March 20 a working meeting with the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s (VBS) Executive Council at Quan Su pagoda in Hanoi.
Joining the delegation meeting were Vice Chairman of the GCRA Bùi Thanh Hà and representatives from the GCRA’s Departments of Buddhist Affairs and International Relation.
Standing Vice Chairmen of the VBS’s Executive Council Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu and Most Venerable Thích Thiện Pháp welcomed the GCRA delegation.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng praised results of VBS’s religious affairs and social charities over the past time, especially supports to the disadvantaged in the remote areas and efforts to reduce the burning of votive paper in Buddhist worshipping places, etc.
GCRA Chairman also urged the VBS to pay further attention to oversea Vietnamese Buddhist communities as well as introduce images and Buddhism of Vietnam through its external affairs.
The GCRA Chairman also stated that the GCRA will further create favorable conditions for Buddhist affairs of the VBS.
The VBS leaders thanked the GCRA for support and favorable conditions extended to the Buddhist church and stated to guide religious practice of Vietnam Buddhists in accordance with State laws and VBS’s Charter.
