Most Venerable Standing-Vice President of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Council Thích Thanh Nhiễu led a delegation to visit on January 19 the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) on occasion of the upcoming traditional New Year festival.
Welcoming the delegation included Chief Executive Vice Chairman Bùi Thanh Hà, Chief of GCRA’s Office Dương Văn Khá and representatives of the GCRA’s Department of Buddhist Affairs.
At the visiting reception, Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu extended traditional New Year wishes to officials and staffers of the GCRA and expressed his hope that the GCRA would continue creating favorable conditions for the Buddhist Sangha in religious activities.
He shared with the hosts that the VBS’s Executive Committee has recorded many good results in Buddhist affairs last year, including the successful organization of its 35th founding anniversary and Buddhist congress at all commune and district-level.
Speaking to the guests, Vice Chairman Bùi Thanh Hà hailed the Buddhist Church for its practical contributions in social and charitable activities, such as collaborating with concerning authorities and charitable organizations to present New Year’s gifts to the poor in the localities.
