GCRA leader receives VBS delegation

Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Vũ Chiến Thắng hosted a receipt on January 16 for a visiting delegation from the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS,) ahead of Lunar New Year 2020.  

The VBS delegation was led by Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Standing Vice Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Council and joint by Most Venerable Thích Gia Quang and Thích Bảo Nghiêm, Vice Chairmen of the VBS executive council, Venerable General Secretary of the VBS Thích Đức Thiện, and Most Venerable Chief of the Central Office Thích Thanh Điện.

During the reception, Chairman of the GCRA Vũ Chiến Thắng had exchanges with the VBS delegation on services of prayers in the New Year and external Buddhist affairs for 2020 including a conference with the participation of Buddhist leaders of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, the exchange of cooperation on Buddhism between Vietnam and China and the eighth World Buddhist Summit Conference scheduled to be held in March 2020 in Japan.

Regarding the praying services at Buddhist pagodas, Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng asked for the strengthening of the communication work and the comprehensive adjustment of activities in order to prevent evident practices for individual profits.

Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu also shared with the host social charities of the VBS for supporting to disadvantaged people and families in remote areas and border regions of the country ahead of Lunar New Year 2020.

The Most Venerable thanked the GCRA for favorable conditions extended to Buddhist affairs of the VBS during the past year, especially practical supports for the successful the organization of UN Day of Vesak 2019, and sent New Year greetings to the GCRA chairman and its staff.
