GCRA holds meeting with religious organizations to gather comments on draft decrees for implementation of religious law

The Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) held on August 8 a meeting in Ho Chi Minh city with religious organization to gather comments on two draft decrees for implementation of the Law on Belief and Religion.
The event was co-chaired by Chief Executive Vice Chairman of the GCRA Bùi Thanh Hà and Vice Chairman Trần Tấn Hùng, and attended by representatives from the GCRA’s departments and 50 dignitaries and deacons representing religious organizations in the South region.
Gathering comments to the draft decree detailing and providing measures for the implementation of Law on Belief and Religion and the draft degree on sanctions for administrative violation of the religious law, the meeting recorded many comments from religious representations on a number of issues. These include reception and use of foreign-related donations by religious organizations and dependent religious organizations; types and levels of administrative sanctions, interpretation of terms; guarantee of the right to use religious scriptures and express religious beliefs of an individual who is arrested, held in custody, temporarily detained, charged with a criminal offence, investigated, prosecuted, brought to trial or subject to judgment enforcement, etc.
