GCRA holds meeting on religious information and communication

On November 26, the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) held a meeting on religious information and communication at its headquarters.

The meeting was chaired by Vice Chairman of the GCRA Dương Ngọc Tấn and attended by representatives from central and Hanoi news agency, newspaper and telivision.

Currently, about 95% of Vietnamese population have certain forms of belief or religious practices, including over 24 million religious followers (accounting for about 27% population). For the past years, religious information and communication in the mass media have attached its importance to reflect people’s needs relating belief and religion, as well as communicate information on State's consistent policies and laws for ensuring the people’s right to freedom of religion or belief and national unity.  

The conference also pointed out shortcomings in the work of religious information and communication over the past years, as well as  proposed solutions to improve the quality and efficiency of information and communication on belief and religion in the mass media.
