The Government Committee for Religious Affairs held three legal workshops for local officials and key followers of Protestantism in the Northern province of Cao Bang on March 16-21.
Attending the events included about 200 dignitaries, deacons and leaders of local Protestant congregations, 180 district-level officials and over 200 commune-level cadres in the province.
The workshop opening ceremonies also saw the participation of Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Trung Thảo and Deputy Director of the provincial department of home affairs Nguyễn Ngọc Định.
During the events, heads of the GCRA’s department of Protestant affairs and the provincial religious committee briefed key contents of current policies and laws on religion in general and Protestantism in particular, as well as provided further guidance for practice of and state governance on Protestantism in the province.
In addition, the workshops provided open discussion of practical issues related to Protestant practices at congregations in localities and workshop presenters also gave explanations of relating comments raised by workshop participants.
