Chairman of The Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Vũ Chiến Thắng chaired an exchange meeting on April 17 with Hanoi municipal Religious Committee on belief and religious issues in the locality 2019.
Joining the event included Vice Chairman of the GCRA Bùi Thanh Hà, heads of the GCRA’s departments, and the delegation of Hanoi municipal Religious Committee led by Chairman Phạm Tiến Dũng.
The meeting covered discussion of recent changes to belief and religious life in the city.
Practical issues raised at the meeting included worshipping land and construction, religious practices of unregistered groups, the management of donation boxes in some pagodas, cultural – spiritual constructions not belonging to religious organizations, etc. In addition, the city religious committee also discussed with the GCRA difficulties in the process of implementing the Law on Belief and Religion.

Addressing at the event, Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng highlighted the need for strengthening close coordination between the GCRA and the municipal religious committee for effectively solving emerging and complicated issues on belief and religion.
According to statistics, Hanoi currently has seven religions and one representative board recognized by the state with more than 700,000 religious followers and over 2,400 religious establishments. The city also has some 5,200 worshipping sites of other beliefs.
