GCRA holds disseminating conference on Law on Belief and Religion

The Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) introduced basic and new contents of the passed Law on Belief and Religion to its officials and staffers at a conference held on March 30. 

The main speaker at the event was Chief Executive Vice Chairman of the GCRA Bùi Thanh Hà.

During the conference, Vice Chairman Bùi Thanh Hà explained and analyzed new points in the Law on Belief and Religion. The GCRA leader also assigned the GCRA’s departments to define their tasks related to the new law and work out plans for ensuring uniformity, effectiveness and timeliness in the implementation of the law.

As reported, the Law on Belief and Religion was adopted by the 14th National Assembly at its second session. The new law with 09 chapters and 68 articles will officially take effect on January 1, 2018. This is the highest legal document on belief and religion in Vietnam

The Law on Belief and Religion incorporated the State administrative reform in order to create openness and transparency in the field of State administration on religious affairs, created a new legal mechanism for respecting and guaranteeing the freedom of belief and religion for everybody, and reduced the State administrative interference in internal affairs of religious organizations.

The Law on Belief and Religion has been considered as a step forward in ensuring freedom of religious practices in Vietnam, as well as in line with the current trend of global integration.
