Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister Trương Hòa Bình paid a working visit to the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) on June 9.
Attending the visit meeting included leaders of the Home Affairs Ministry, officials from the Central ministries and agencies, and leaders of the GCRA and representatives of all GCRA’s departments and divisions.
During the meeting, Chief Executive Vice Chairman of the GCRA Bùi Thanh Hà reported current religious life in the country and results of State religious affairs in the first 6 months of 2016.
He emphasized that religious organizations are important social resources in building and developing the country and they have made many practical contributions in healthcare, charity, education, environment protection and climate change adaptation, and preservation of territorial integrity of Vietnam.
The GCRA leader also pointed out a number of remaining issues relating to the religious policy and its implementation, including delays in addressing complaints on religious land in several localities, deficient system of laws for addressing new religious phenomena, and abuse of belief and religion to provoke and disrupt the social security order.
During the working meeting with the GCRA, Deputy PM Trương Hòa Bình directed the GCRA and concerning ministries, agencies to overcome limitations on the policy on belief and religion and its implementation, pay due attention to aspirations and religious needs of dignitaries and followers of religions, as well as step up administrative reform in the field of belief and religion, contributing to ensure people’s right to freedom of belief and religion and enhance international integration in the country.
