On June 4, the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) held a conference on participation of religious women in environment protection in Ninh Binh province.
The conference, held with the theme “religious women in the Red River Delta region join environment protection, contributing to build new-model rural countrysides” was organized in collaboration with the Central Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) and attended by religious dignitaries and women from religious organizations of Buddhism, Catholicism and Protestantism in ten provinces and cities of the Red river Delta region.
The event was co-chaired by Vice Chairman of the GCRA Dương Ngọc Tấn, Vice Chairwoman of the VWU Bùi Thị Hòa, Vice Chairman of the Central Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Lê Bá Trình and Vice Chairman of Ninh Binh provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Ngọc Thạch.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman Dương Ngọc Tấn stated that over the past years, over 24 millions followers of religions in Vietnam, including religious women in the Red River Delta region, have proactively participated in patriotic movements and engaged in practical activities for protecting environment. He said in the provinces and cities of the Red River Delta region, many religious residential areas and establishments have maintained clean and healthy environment. The Vice Chairman also urged followers to promoting fine traditional values of religions and national patriotism for making practical contributions to environment protection and prosperity in the country.
During the conference, delegates exchanged and discussed on typical models and specific activities in protecting the environment and adaption to climate changes. They also shared together experiences and difficulties in environment protection in localities.
