On November 26, 2013 at the headquarters of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, Mr. Phạm Dũng, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs cum Chairman of the Committee, received Bishop Nguyễn Thái Hợp of Vinh diocese. Attending the reception were also Mr. Dương Ngọc Tấn, Vice Chairman of the Committee; Mr. Nguyễn Hữu Nhường, Chief of the Committee Office; and officials from the Department of Catholic Affairs.
At the event, the two sides discussed some issues of mutual concern relating to Vinh diocese in recent time such as land issues, places of worship and religious activities…. Bishop Nguyễn Thái Hợp thanked the Government Committee for Religious Affairs for its attention and assistance given to to Vinh diocese recently. Mr. Phạm Dũng expressed his hope that with the role as the diocese’s leader, Bishop Nguyễn Thái Hợp will guide Catholic followers to follow the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies and law, build good relations with the local authorities and be open for dialogue on a number of issues in the coming time./.
