Tien Giang province reviews 20 years ensuring national security in Catholic residential areas

A conference to review 20 years implementing Directive 11 of the Ministry of the Interior on ensuring national security in Catholic residential areas was held on November 19 at the office of the Police Department.
The conference was chaired by Deputy Chief of Tien Giang provincial Police Nguyễn Việt Hùng, and attended by officials of Tien Giang Police, representatives from the provincial Committee for Mass Mobilization, Committee for Religious Affairs, Vietnam Fatherland Committee, and typical Catholics in the locality.
It’s reported during the conference that in previous 20 years, Catholic dignitaries and followers actively joint local authorities in the implementation of Directive 11 and made important contributions to encouraging results achieved regarding social security in the province. These results include: 163 out of 173 communes and wards have achieved set targets of security and order, 134 communes have met the target No 19 on social security and order in 19 targets for a new countryside, 46 communes and wards have been recognized as “cultural locality”; assisting the police to discover 1,435 violations, to handle 10,000 cases of administrative wrongdoings; four priests and 121 followers joint local legislative bodies; 121 Catholics assumed the position of chief of the self-security unit, 162 Catholics joint local police.
Deputy Chief of Tien Giang Police Nguyễn Việt Hùng presents a certificate of merit for organizations and individuals
On this occasion, Tien Giang provincial People’s Committee awarded a certificate of merit to 14 organizations and 3 individuals, and the provincial Police presented its certificate of merit to other 12 organizations and 14 individuals, for recognition of outstanding achievements by these organizations and individuals in ensuring national security in the period 1994-2014.
