On occasion of the traditional Chol Chnam Thmay (New Year Festival) of the Khmer people, a delegation from the Southwestern Steering Committee led by Mr. Trần Hữu Hiệp visited and met with Khmer Buddhists in several southern provinces.
In Bac Lieu province, the Southwestern Steering Committee delegation attended a meeting with over 400 participants who are Khmer Buddhists and people.
In the provinces of Soc Trang and Tra Vinh, the Southwestern Steering Committee delegation visited and met with the provincial Patriotic Clergy Solidarity Association, Khmer Buddhist dignitaries and prestigious people in the two localities.
At visiting places, Mr. Trần Hữu Hiệp extended best wishes to Khmer Buddhists and people on occasion of the traditional Chol Chnam Thmay festival. He also urged the Patriotic Clergy Solidarity Association and Khmer Buddhist dignitaries to promote the patriotic tradition and solidarity for social-economic development and defense of the country
Also on occasion of the traditional Chol Chnam Thmay, Tri Ton district People’s Committee in An Giang province held a meeting with nearly 300 Khmer delegates who are officials, soldiers, students and prestigious people to celebrate the traditional New Year of Khmer people.
