Soc Trang province: Meeting with religious dignitaries and prestigious members of ethnic communities held

The Southwestern Steering Committee in collaboration with Soc Trang provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee held on November 16 a meeting with over 350 religious dignitaries and prestigious members of ethnic communities in the locality.

At the conference, representatives of the Religious-Ethnic Department under the Southwestern Steering Committee shared about current religious-ethnic situation in Vietnam, implementation of ethnic-religious policies and State administration on ethnic and religious affairs in the Southwest region…

Soc Trang province is home to over 400,000 ethnic Khmer, accounting for 31% of the provincial population. For the past years, the province’s religious dignitaries and prestigious members of ethnic Khmer communities have actively promoted their roles and responsibilities in encouraging local ethnic people to observe the State laws and implement policies for local socio-economic development, contributing to maintain security and stability in the province.
