A coordinating program on development of preschool education, social welfare, vocational training and health care for the poor for 2016-2020 period was signed by Soc Trang provincial authorities and religious organizations in the locality at a conference held on September 27.
The event was co-organized by the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee, Departments of Education and Training, Health, and Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, in collaboration with religious organizations in the province.
As reported at the conference, during the 2010-2015 period, the religious organizations made many practical contributions in fields of education, health care and social sponsor, including the organization of preschool care for over 3,600 children, contribution of over 25,00m2 land within Buddhist temples for building preschool, and provision of free health-check to nearly 700,000 patients with the total value of over VND 16 billion.
In addition, 17 worshipping establishments in the locality have provided social welfare for the elderly and orphans, contributed over VND 109 billion to funds for the poor and disaster relief, and built about 200 concrete bridges in the locality.
The coordinating program’s contents for 2016-2020 period focused on creating conditions for organizations and individuals to get involved in educational, health and charitable activities, and providing legal assistance, favorable land policies and tax incentives for education, health and vocational training with non-profit purposes.
On this occasion, Soc Trang provincial People’s Committee and VFF Committee presented certificates of merit to 11 groups and 19 individuals for their achievements in implementing the program on education, health and social welfare in the last period.
