Religious committee in An Giang holds conference on religious law implementation for Theravada Khmer Buddhist monks

An Giang provincial committee for religious affairs held on June 19-20 a conference on the implementation of the Law on Belief and Religion and its guiding decree to Theravada Khmer Buddhist monks in the province.
The meeting took place at My A pagoda located in the province’s Tinh Bien district and was attended by 117 Theravada Khmer Buddhist monks and acha (Khmer word for members of management board of Khmer Buddhist pagoda) from 66 Khmer pagodas in the locality.
During the meeting, the provincial religious committee introduced key contents on the Law on Belief and Religion and its guiding Decree No. 162. All disseminating materials used in the event were translated into Khmer language for Khmer Buddhist participants’ easier access the State’s policies and laws relating to religion.
So far, the provincial religious committee has organized seven meetings on the religious law implementation for 902 religious dignitaries, deacons and followers of religions in the province.
