On December 6, religious organizations in Dak Lak province’s Buon Me Thuot city attended a conference on environmental protection and climate change adaptation for the 2016-2020 period.
The event was co-organized by Buon Me Thuot city’s Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee and Division of Natural Resources and Environment in collaboration with religious organizations in Dak Lak province.
Speaking at the conference, Chairman of the city’s VFF Committee Nguyễn Hoàng Diệu emphasized that Buon Me Thuot city in particular and Dak Lak in general are facing challenges of environmental pollution and degradation. As reported, the province has seriously suffered damages of drought, deforestation and degradation of soil for 2016.
During the event, the participating delegates discussed role of religious organizations in environmental protection and climate change response. The religious organizations also committed to encourage religious followers and residential areas to not do litter, plant more trees in family houses and public areas, reduce the using of chemical fertilizers and protect the drinking water sources.
On this occasion, the city’s VFF Committee and Division of Natural Resources and Environment as well as religious organizations in Buon Me Thuot city also signed a coordinating program for environmental protection and climate change response for the 2016-2020 period.
