Politburo member, Secretary of Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation Trương Thị Mai on April 16 extended greetings to Catholic dignitaries and followers in Hue on the occasion of the 2017 Easter holiday.
During her visit to Archbishop of the Hue Diocese Joseph Nguyễn Chí Linh, who is also President of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Vietnam, the official recognised and praised the role of Archbishop Joseph Nguyễn Chí Linh in calling on and directing local parishioners to work closely with the municipal authorities, and people from all walks of life to promote the country’s socio-economic development.
Meanwhile, she reiterated the consistent policy of the Party and State to respecting and ensuring the legitimate rights of the people to freedom of belief and religion.
The PCC Secretary expressed her hope that the Archdiocese along with other Catholic dignitaries and followers will continue participating in patriotic movements, thus actively contributing to the nation’s development.
Archbishop Joseph Nguyễn Chí Linh promised to continuously encourage parishioners to abide by legal regulations, and join hands in consolidating the national great unity bloc.
