Ninh Thuan province: Peaceful Catholic parish in Tan Hai commune

  For years, authorities of Tan Hai commune has effectively collaborated with Catholic dignitaries in engaging religious followers for ensuring security and order in the locality.

To successfully encourage Catholic residents to participate in the movement for ensuring peace and order in the religious community, authorities of Tan Hai commune in Ninh Hai district worked closely with prestigious dignitaries in the local parish.

Mr. Nguyễn Đình Kiêm, Chief of Thuy Loi parish Council in Tan Hai commune shared that at preaching meetings, dignitaries always remind followers to observe the laws and make active contributions to protect security and order in the locality.

Aware of their role in ensuring peace and order in the community, Catholics in Tan Hai commune always stay alert and closely work with local public security. They have provided useful information for the local police to handle security issues and violation cases. In first nine months of 2014, local people informed the police six pieces of information, contributing to successfully investigate five cases of security violation.

In addition, religious followers together implemented effectively creative models designed by local authorities for ensuring local order and peace, including “Self-management, self-protection, self-defense”, “Building safe & secure Catholic commune and exemplary Catholic family”, “Light for local transport”…

With its achievements over the years, Tan Hai commune has always been a locality of order and security since 2005, and was regarded as a leading example in implementing the movement “all people protect national security” in 2013. At a conference to review 20 years implementing Directive No 11 issued by the Ministry of Public Security for protecting national security in Catholic residential areas in the period 1994-2014, Tan Hai commune was awarded a certificate of merit for its outstanding achievements in ensuring peace and order in the locality. This is an acknowledgement of efforts by both authorities and Catholic followers in the commune./.
