Ninh Binh provincial authorities honor typical Catholic families

The Ninh Binh provincial Women Association held a meeting on June 22 to honor typical Catholic families in the locality for 2011-2016 period.

Attending the meeting included Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyễn Thị Thanh, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tống Quang Thìn, representatives from the provincial Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics and 35 outstanding Catholic families in the locality.

It’s reported that, for the past five years, the women associations in the province have closely worked with local authorities to well implement key tasks and program for improve qualities of life for women in the locality.

The local women associations have supported Catholic women in building happy and sustainable families through projects for promoting family values, better education of their children and sustainable family relationship.

During the past five years, the women associations have contributed to the construction of 20 charity houses for Catholic families through the organization of fund raisings, and thanks to associations’ support, 116 Catholic families have been removed from the sustainable poverty list.

Catholic families have made important contributions to the development of rural roads and building of cultural houses, thus practically helping 19 communes meeting national standards of new-style rural areas.

Speaking at the meeting, Secretary Nguyễn Thị Thanh spoke highly of efforts of women associations and branches in the locality in encouraging Catholic women to make practical contributions for improving the material and spiritual life of women in general and Catholic women in particular.

On this occasion, the provincial People’s Committee presented certificates of merit to 35 typical Catholic families for their outstanding achievements in the 2011-2016 period.
