The event was organized by the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee, Department of Natural Resources and Environment in collaboration with religious organizations including the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics.

Prior to the signing, delegates at the conference discussed and approved key contents of the coordinating program with the aim to enhance roles, responsibilities and encourage practical contributions of religious dignitaries and followers to environmental protection and climate change response, as well as strengthen solidarity amongst religions in the national unity bloc.

During the event, local authorities stressed the need for communication amongst religious communities on environmental pollution, climate change and its impacts in the world and in Vietnam.

The leaders of signing parties also agreed on the development of pilot models for environmental protection and climate change adaptation amongst communities.

According to the approved plan, the coordination program will be reviewed every six months and annually reported at important festivals of religions or at the Great National Unity Day.
