On May 17, Nam Dinh provincial Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics held a conference for dissemination of laws on election and environmental protection to local Catholic dignitaries and deacons in the province.
During the conference, participating Catholics learnt about the current laws on election of members of the National Assembly and local-level People’s Councils for the 2016-2021 tenure presented by the provincial Justice Department and policies and regulations on environmental protection introduced by Department of Natural Resources and Environment
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Đặng Phúc Giao urged Catholic dignitaries and deacons to encourage followers proactively join in the election of members of the National Assembly and local-level People’s Councils to be held on May 22, as well as practically respond to movements launched by the provincial Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics for social-economic development in the locality.
