Quang Binh province is home to large numbers of Catholics and Buddhists residing in 7 districts of the province and some of these religious communities still face with many difficulties.

To implement a directive of the Quang Binh provincial government, the provincial Military Command has proactively coordinated with concerning departments and grassroots authorities in developing plans, methods and forms of social work for developing the infrastructure and improving the social, cultural and economic life of religious people in localities facing most difficulties.

In particular, the provincial military command has assigned the 996 regiment to come to three Catholic villages in Bo Trach district’s Hung Trach commune for carrying out social works in these villages, as people residing in these three villages are all followers of Catholicism and many have low incomes.

In working days in these villages, solders of the 996 regiment actively engaged in activities for cleaning agricultural canals and local roads, repairing and upgrading the villages’ cultural center, conducting health checks and providing free medicines, presenting gifts to five children from poor families with excellent academic results, and construction of 350m2 of the concrete ground of the primary school in Hung Trach commune, ect.

In the province’s Quang Trach district, an area where many people follow Catholicism, the military command in Quang Binh has also contributed thousands of working days for upgrading the infrastructure, repairing people’s houses, presenting saving accounts to poor families, ect, contributing to help local Catholics overcome difficulties and boost socio-economic development.
